Purpose

The purpose of the contest is to provide an avenue for youth and adults aspiring for a career as film directors, producers, actors and special effects specialist to showcase their talent and creativity in executing a unique scene from a Perry Mason Mystery. Through this contest the entrants will learn about Erle Stanley Gardner, the creator of the Perry Mason Mysteries, and develop techniques and skills in filming a short scene from a previously produced television episode.

All entrants will utilize the same scene from the episode "The Case of the Drowning Duck." Original script provided.

Entrants are to utilize their own creativity and special effects to create the scene. Entry can be animated or non-animated/live actors.

Screening/Jury Review

Once films are submitted, they are screened by a panel to determine which films are to be sent to a jury for judging. The panel will consist of Erle Stanley Gardner Committee Members. The final jury will consist of educators, industry professionals, and Erle Stanley Gardner Committee Members.

Viewing of Finalists:

Top finalists will be viewed at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of Erle Stanley Gardner Mystery Weekend on Sunday, November 4, 2007, 3 p.m. at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, 42051 Main Street, Temecula.
